With Custom Generation, you can guide Napkin to create exactly what you have in mind by specifying the visual type, choosing the orientation, controlling the level of detail, and keeping your original wording intact. This means less time tweaking and more time creating exactly what you want.

How to Access Custom Generation
You can access Custom Generation by clicking the Auto Spark generation icon, you'll see your generated visuals along with a 'Customize' option at the bottom of the visual preview overlay.
Click 'Customize' to open the Custom Generation menu where you can fine-tune your visual requirements.
How to Use Custom Generation
Custom Generation gives you control over four key aspects of your visuals:
1️⃣ Visual Types
Specify Your Visual Type In the "Specify visual" field, type what kind of visual you need. You can request:
Flowcharts for process visualization.
Mind maps for brainstorming and connections.
Tables for data organization.
Timelines for chronological information.
Comparison charts for side-by-side analysis.
And many more visual types.
Note:
As you type, Napkin will suggest possible visual types to help you find what you're looking for. Simply describe what you need, and Napkin will generate the closest matching visual.
You can also recreate the exact type of visual you've already used by using its layout name. Just select the visual, click the "i" button in the top-right corner, copy the layout name, and paste it into the "Specify visual" field to generate the same visual type again.
2️⃣ Visual Orientation
With this, you can select the visual orientation that best fits your intended use:
Auto: Let Napkin decide the best orientation based on your content.
Portrait (Vertical): Perfect for social media posts, mobile viewing, and documents.
Landscape (Horizontal): Ideal for presentations, slides, and wide displays.
Square: Great for social media posts and balanced layouts.
3️⃣ Set Your Detail Level
With this, you can control how much information appears in your visual:
Auto: Napkin automatically chooses the appropriate level of detail.
Summary: Get concise, high-level visuals with main points presented clearly – perfect for quick overviews and summaries.
Detailed: Generate comprehensive visuals with extensive descriptions, supporting text, and in-depth information – ideal when you need thorough explanations.
4️⃣ Keep Your Wording Intact with "Stay closer to my text"
This ensures the labels and text in your visual remain as close as possible to your original text used for generation. This is especially useful when you have specific terminology, brand language, or precise wording that must be maintained.
Once you're done with setting up all the requirements, click 'Apply' to generate visuals that match your inputs. Napkin will create new visuals based on your custom requirements while maintaining the quality and clarity you expect.
