Learn how to use Napkin to generate a mind map for your content.
Generating a mind map in Napkin is simple and can be done in two ways depending on your content and preferences. Napkin's AI may suggest mind maps when your text is suitable for this visual format, or you can specifically request mind maps using Custom Generation.
Method 1: Auto Spark Suggestions đŻ
When you generate visuals by clicking Auto Spark button, Napkin automatically analyzes your text and suggests the most appropriate visual formats, including mind maps.
How it works:
Select your text that you want to visualize.
Click the Auto Spark button to generate visual suggestions.
Check the visual options - look for mind maps in the Auto Spark visual preview menu. If none are shown, use Custom Generation as described below.
Choose your preferred mind map from the suggested options.
This method works best when your content naturally fits a mind map structure, such as hierarchical information, brainstorming topics, or connected concepts.
Method 2: Custom Generation âď¸
If you don't see mind maps in the Auto Spark suggestions, or if you specifically want to create a mind map instead of relying on the initial suggestions, you can use Custom Generation.
How to use Custom Generation for mind maps:
Select the text you want to create a mind map from.
Click the Auto Spark button to generate initial visuals.
Click the "Customize" button in the visual preview overlay.
In the "Specify visual" field, type "mind map".
Click "Apply" to create your mind map.
This guides Napkin toward mind map suggestions. Choose the closest match and edit it to fit your content.
đ Tips for clearer mind maps:
Structure your text with clear main topics and subtopics.
Use hierarchical information.
Whether you use Auto Spark suggestions or Custom Generation, you'll be able to create effective mind maps that help visualize your ideas and information clearly.
