Learn how to create visuals that perfectly match your brand or personal style with Custom Styles.

We know how important it is for your visuals to match your brand or personal style. With Custom Styles, you can easily set up a unique style using your brand colors and fonts. Once created, you can generate new visuals in this style or update existing visuals to match your branding—without the hassle of manual edits.

Creating a Custom Style 🎨

Follow these simple steps to create your own Custom Style:

1️⃣ Open the Custom Style Panel

  • Click on the ‘Style’ option in the top-right corner.

  • Click ‘+ Create New Style’ to start setting up your custom style.

2️⃣ Name & Describe Your Style

  • Give your style a name and a short description to help you organize and recognize it later.

3️⃣ Add Your Brand Main and Background Colors

  • You have two ways to add your brand colors:

    • Manually: Click the ‘+’ icon and enter the RGB, HSL, or HEX color codes to add colors manually.

    • Auto-Detect from an Image: Upload a logo or any brand asset (like a screenshot), and Napkin will automatically extract the colors and add them to your color palette.

  • Background Color: Choose the background color that will be used in your visuals when using this style.

4️⃣ Pick Your Fonts

  • Customize your text with different fonts for: Title, Labels, Descriptions. You can:

    • Choose from Napkin’s built-in fonts via the dropdown menu.

    • Select from 700+ Google Fonts for more variety.

    • Upload your own custom font (only .ttf files can be used for now)

5️⃣ Generate & Preview Your Style

  • Click 'Generate Style', and Napkin will create multiple custom style variations based on your inputs.

  • Check the preview of different style options, and pick the one that best fits your brand.

6️⃣ Fine-Tune Your Style

  • Want to tweak the chosen style further? No problem! In this final step, you can adjust icon styles, change font weights, and modify line styles, text colors, and other elements to perfect your custom look.

  • Once everything looks just right, click "I'm Done", and your Custom Style will be ready to use!

📌 Note:

  • You can create as many Custom Styles as you want—there's no limit!

  • You can use different Custom Styles on the same Napkin for different visuals.

Using a Custom Style 🎨

Once you've created a Custom Style, you can use it in two ways:

✅ Apply it to new visuals while generating them.

✅ Transform existing visuals to match your custom style.

1️⃣ Using Custom Styles for New Visual Generation

To apply a Custom Style while generating new visuals:

  1. Activate your Custom Style from the Style menu by clicking the top-right 'Style' button, then selecting the style you want to activate.

  2. The activated style will be highlighted with a blue boundary and a bright selected icon to indicate that it’s active.

  3. You can select multiple styles at the same time - Napkin will use all activated styles while generating visuals.

  4. Click on the Auto Spark icon to generate visuals. Your will see visuals generated in all the activated styles.

  5. Select the visual you like, and you’ll see that it follows your selected style.

2️⃣ Applying Custom Styles to Existing Visuals

You can also apply a Custom Style to visuals that have already been created. There are two ways to do this:

📌 Apply Custom Style to All Visuals

  1. Ensure your Custom Style is active in the Style menu.

  2. Open the Style menu and click the three-dot menu available on top of the Custom Style card.

  3. Select 'Apply to All', and the selected custom style will be applied to all visuals on the page.

📌 Apply Custom Style to a Specific Visual

If you want to apply the style to only a specific visual:

  1. Select the visual you want to update.

  2. Open the Style menu and click the three-dot menu available on top of the Custom Style card.

  3. Click the three-dot menu next to the style and select 'Apply to Selection'.

Another way to apply the Custom Style to a visual is by changing the style from the frame menu:

  1. Select the frame of the visual you want to update.

  2. Click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the selected visual.

  3. lick 'Change Style', and you’ll see different style options based on your active styles.

  4. Choose the custom style you want to apply to the visual and the visual will instantly update to match your custom style.
